From Personal Frustration to a Patented Hair Towel Design
Smart Hair Towel™ began with a problem I experienced personally for years: I could not find a hair towel that fit comfortably, stayed securely in place, and gave my hair enough room without unnecessary bulk.
I tried traditional bath towels, square hair towels, and turban-style hair towels. Each design presented its own challenges. Some were too bulky, while others were too short or narrow for my hair. Many required buttons, loops, or small pouches, and I often found myself adjusting or rewrapping them.
I kept thinking there had to be a better way.
The Idea That Changed Everything
The inspiration came unexpectedly.
One day, while pulling a T-shirt over my head, I noticed how the neck opening created a comfortable, secure hold. I experimented by using that concept to wrap my hair, and it gave me an idea:
What if a hair towel could use its shape and controlled contraction to create a firm fit instead of relying on a traditional pouch, button, or loop?
That simple observation became the starting point for Smart Hair Towel™.
Several Years from an Idea to an Invention
Turning an idea into an actual product did not happen overnight.
The journey took several years. During that time, I was working full-time and developing my idea whenever time allowed. When I was laid off from my job during the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to pick the idea back up and give it the attention it deserved.
I continued developing and improving the design, working through different shapes, dimensions, fabrics, patterns, elastic placement, and prototypes. Each version helped me better understand how the towel needed to fit, wrap, twist, and stay securely in place.
I eventually took another important step—going through the patent process to protect the unique design behind the Smart Hair Towel™.
Create a hair towel specifically shaped for wrapping hair—not another variation of a bath towel or predetermined turban pouch.
Through years of trial, testing, and refinement, the Smart Hair Towel™ developed into its distinctive slim, tapered shape with an elastic band positioned at the back of the neck.
The Smart Hair Towel™ Was Born
The result is a different approach to the traditional hair towel.
Smart Hair Towel™ uses a Slim Shape and Firm Fit designed specifically around the hair-wrapping process. The tapered shape reduces unnecessary fabric and bulk, while the elastic band helps create a secure fit and provides a place to tuck the towel tail after wrapping.
There are no traditional hair pouches, buttons, loops, hoops, or straps to manage.

For me, the patent represents much more than a number. It represents years of problem-solving, prototypes, setbacks, improvements, and determination to turn a simple idea into a real product.

People have different hair lengths, textures, thicknesses, volumes, protective styles, extensions, and head sizes. That is why Smart Hair Towel™ was developed as a practical wrapping solution rather than requiring everyone’s hair to conform to one predetermined pouch shape.
Today, Smart Hair Towel™ is available in Medium and Large sizes, giving customers options based on their individual hair volume and fit needs.
